DENPASAR, November 4, 2025 —

The Community of English Students (COMETS) of Fakultas Sastra at Universitas Warmadewa organized the English Department Seminar (EDSEM) 2025 at the Sri Ajnadewi Hall, G2 Building, on Tuesday (Nov 4). Carrying the theme "From Pen to Algorithm: The Future of Fiction in a Digital Era," the event served as a forum to discuss the evolving relationship between literary arts and modern technology.

The seminar featured two keynote speakers: Alexandra Masri Do, a student from Cornell University, United States, and I Putu Indra Pramana, a student from Fakultas Sastra at Universitas Warmadewa. Moderated by Qori Apriansyah, the discussion focused on how rapid technological advancements and artificial intelligence (AI) influence the existence and authenticity of modern fiction.

Organizing Committee Chair Cindy Sabrina Febriyanti reported that the seminar was attended by 137 students from Fakultas Sastra. She emphasized that the initiative aimed to help students navigate the digital era while safeguarding core literary values. "We hope this event inspires students to keep writing and creating without losing the human touch in their imagination and ideas," she noted.

In his opening address, the Dean of Fakultas Sastra at Universitas Warmadewa, Dr. Drs. I Wayan Ana, M.Hum., commended the committee and participants for their active involvement. He highlighted the irreplaceable role of human emotion in literature despite technological progress.

"AI can generate works of literature, yet human touch remains essential to impart genuine emotion and feeling," Dr. I Wayan Ana stated, adding that human dreams remain the primary source of creativity. He expressed hope that the seminar would encourage students to maintain critical thinking and creative output amid rapid technological shifts.
