Faculty of Letters Unwar Presents 2 Professors from the Philippines, Strengthens International Cooperation Through Studium Generale

Denpasar-Faculty of Letters at Universitas Warmadewa (Unwar) continues to show its existence as a superior educational institution with various strategic breakthroughs. One of the concrete steps taken was the organization of an international guest lecture or Studium Generale, which presented two speakers from Central Mindanao University (CMU), Philippines. This activity took place on Thursday (13/2) and is part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement between Universitas Warmadewa and CMU. Previously, this series of activities also included community service in various locations in Bali.

This Studium Generale carries the theme “Effective Language Strategies to Boost Local Tourism”. The Dean of Unwar's Faculty of Letters, Dr. Drs. I Wayan Ana, M.Hum, emphasized that this international guest lecture is one of the concrete forms of global cooperation established by Unwar. "International cooperation is not just an opportunity, but also a necessity for universities today. We ensure that cooperation with CMU is not only limited to paper, but is realized through various concrete programs, such as this guest lecture," he said.

The event featured two prominent academics, Prof. Amita B. Sususco, MAE, and Prof. Marlene S. Jarate, MAELT, who shared their insights on effective language strategies in supporting the local tourism sector. In addition, cooperation with CMU has also been realized in the form of community service which has been carried out in Penglipuran on February 10, 2025 and at SD 4 Sumerta on February 11, 2025. Not only that, the Faculty of Letters is also active in the Visiting Professor program, where Dr. Dra. Ni Wayan Kasni, M.Hum, has twice been a guest lecturer at Central Mindanao University, Philippines.

Dr. Dra. Ni Wayan Kasni, M.Hum, who was present as a Visiting Professor, said that Warmadewa University and CMU have established close cooperation in various fields, including international research and academic exchanges. “As an implementation of this cooperation, a team of researchers from CMU came to Warmadewa University to contribute significantly to the development of the Faculty of Letters, especially in the English Literature study program,” she said.

Meanwhile, Prof. Amita B. Sususco expressed her enthusiasm for her visit to Bali for the first time. "We have the same vision in conducting collaborative research in the fields of tourism and English. We also seek to assist in the revision of the English program at Warmadewa University to be more competitive at the international level," she said.

This activity is not only a place for knowledge exchange, but also contributes to improving the quality of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) based curriculum that is being developed at the Faculty of Letters. "With this international guest lecture, we hope that students will not only listen, but also actively participate, ask questions, and deepen their insights. This is clear evidence of our commitment to improving students' skills, knowledge and experience so that they are ready to compete in the global arena," added Dr. I Wayan Ana.

Through these excellent academic programs, the Faculty of Letters at Warmadewa University continues to prove itself as the best choice for prospective students who want to develop competencies in literature and English. With the support of an adaptive curriculum and extensive international networks, the Faculty of Letters is ready to produce superior and highly competitive graduates.
